A tasty experience at San Roque on Tenerife

Uncategorized

When I am traveling, I like to be surprised by the local cuisine of a country. It often happens to me that I meet locals who serve me the tastiest dishes. In Spain I recently joined the restaurant at the place San Roque, where I was quite spoiled …

The place San Roque is located in the middle of the village of Garachico on the island of Tenerife. The red walls on the outside of the hotel create a warm, cozy feeling. Owner Laly is clearly happy to see me again when I walk into the courtyard. We met earlier this afternoon, after which she proudly showed me my ocher yellow room for this week. At our meeting, she told me that I could have an extensive dinner here tonight. That made me curious!

I sit down and soon Laly pours me a first wine. I have the white drink absorbed. I taste a special taste, not your average white wine. When I ask Laly to ask what kind of wine it is, she tells me that it is one from the Orotava valley on Tenerife. “This is the Tajinaste Blanco seco, Eliza. Soon I will have more local wines for you! ”Laly clearly enjoys her work as a hostess.

The San Roque restaurant is the perfect place to test my taste buds. You can choose your own dishes from the menu, but I asked Laly to surprise me. That’s how I start my dinner with fresh fish from the harbor a few meters away. Delicious!

As a main course, I get Laly fish from the Atlantic Ocean with mashed potatoes, garlic, rosemary and vinaigrette. Another successful course.

Laly has since poured me a red wine from the island. “You still like dessert, don’t you?” She asks me when she takes my empty plate. “You can’t really ignore the dessert, Eliza.

So tasty! ”As a promising end to the evening

Laly serves me apple pie with marzipan, yoghurt sorbet and tonka bean. I am now packed. From the original dishes, but also from the local wine that flowed richly … I have to conclude that eating at San Roque is an experience in itself. And that Laly makes the dinner complete!
